Pittsburgh Fintech Meetup: Open Banking, APIs and Customer Data Roundtable Discussion

Truefit is excited to play host to Pittsburgh Fintech Meetup, a new group for anyone in Pittsburgh interested in financial technology. They meet monthly to discuss the latest trends and innovation and to meet others who are passionate and curious about the next generation of banking and financial services, payments, regulation, insurance, trading, blockchain and DLT.

This month they are going to be talking about all things related to Open Banking.

Topics to be covered include:

  • What is Open Banking and why is it important for banks, fintechs, and consumers?
  • Who should own customer data and how to keep it protected?
  • Lessons learned from other countries' approach to Open Banking and what are the challenges and opportunities in the US.
  • Are traditional banks viewing Open Banking as a threat or opportunity?
  • How are companies like Plaid and Yodlee changing the playing field for banks and fintechs?

Agenda for the meetup:

  • 6:00-6:15 - Arrival and networking
  • 6:15-7:30 - Roundtable Discussion

To get started, here is an older but fairly thorough primer on Open Banking from McKinsey in late 2017. https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/financial-services/our-insights/data-sharing-and-open-banking
